Comagine Health, the Oregon Perinatal Collaborative, Project Nurture, and many other stakeholders are working together to improve care and outcomes for pregnant and postpartum people with substance use disorders (SUDs) in Oregon. Oregon’s Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee reports that behavioral health conditions, including SUD, were the underlying cause for 41.2% of all pregnancy-related deaths in the state from 2018 and 2020¹. Much work is needed increase access to wrap-around behavioral and physical health care for pregnant and postpartum people with SUDs in Oregon to improve care, health, and safety for these mothers and their families.
